A family tradition for generations. At least.

Our Italian ancestors arrived in the United States in the 1890s as part of a wave of immigrants who came to work in the iron and copper mines in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Later, these families settled in Detroit, where they restarted their family’s long tradition of home winemaking. In the 1950s and 1960s, we made wine in our family’s garage on Dalby Street in Redford Township, and as our family grew and dispersed across the United States, we brought that tradition to new places, including Boston, New York, Kentucky, and Houston.

The Houston Monticellos have been making wine in The Woodlands, Texas, since 1992. We have sourced grapes from California and Texas and we have won state awards and local acclaim. And, in 2023, we finally won the coveted trophy at the annual Monticello Family Wine Competition.

We make wine to remember our family’s traditions and to grow new memories. We invite you to join us for a glass, a meal, and a lively conversation. We’re glad you stopped by!
